We're already having fun!

Centerpieces, linens, and place cards - oh my!  We're actually having fun talking about all kinds of ways to add nice touches for not much money, crafting our own centerpieces, and creating unique place cards too!  We are throwing around ideas for changing the candle lighting into something that everyone can participate in, possibly.  We're looking forward to hearing more about what you are planning for your celebration, or what you've seen recently...

I was at a great Bar Mitzvah reception at the Doubletree (don't remember what that hotel is now). It was a really expensive one, but they had two rooms, one for the kids with a DJ and lots of games, and the other for the adults, with a band. You could go back and forth -- I think they had a casino theme -- but, as I said, it was hugely expensive and mostly put together by the party planner.

I think it's a Hilton now; yeah, that sounds way out of our budget... It's looking like I might decoupage candle holders for the centerpieces, make place card holders that can later be used as photo or memo holders, make the invitations, etc. Casino theme for 13 year olds?! Thanks!
